The Western Himalayan region—Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh—witnessed record-breaking rainfall, floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, causing widespread devastation. In August, Ladakh recorded 930% more rainfall than usual, while northern India saw an average increase of over 1200%.
