I am pleased to introduce 2^nd edition of my book  titled “HIMALAYI RAJYA SANDARVA KOSH”( Himalayan States a Reference Book). The book is redesigned and revamped to meet the requirements of candidates appearing in competitive examinations conducted by several State public Service Commissions and other agencies for the recruitments of different posts. I may, with full confidence assert that readers will find this book reliable and authentic reference to  wide ranging topics about all Himalayan states. The book also aims to apprise the people residing in other parts of country about Himalayas and its people.

 

Informations  in the book have been gathered with special efforts extracting the vital inputs of Directorates of economics and statistics of all Himalayan states, Census Report 2011, web portals of various state governments, various publications of  state Government departments, books on history and culture and  various publication of Union Government etc. I am thankful to the Uttarakhand’s Directorate of Economic and Statistics that extended all possible assistance in the collection of data. All the material collected from different sources was carefully researched to prepare effective and trustworthy study material.

 The book has tried to provide maximum of information in best of concise manner.  Gathering information linked to entire Himalayan region was not an easy task and the region stretches from Jammu and Kashmir to seven sisters states in North East encompassing states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura and Assam and also including Darjeeling region of West Bengal. This will not be an exaggeration if we call this reference book as “Briefest Encyclopedia of Himalayan states. 

This is my fourth book in sequence and is second edition of my third book on Himalayan states. The first edition that was released by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Harish Rawat in Dehradun and Manipur Chief Minister Mr.Okram Ibobi Singh, who released it in Imphal in 2014. This is not only a book work but a real outcome of my experience of four decades as a journalist in different capacities.
